Born and raised in Fairhope, Alabama, Sellers Payne was introduced to the appraisal industry while working with his father and mentor. While attending the University of South Alabama, he began managing his father’s appraisal office, which included assisting in residential and commercial reports. Upon moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2011 he began working for Hancock/Whitney Bank in the commercial appraisal department. Here, he expanded his experience by reviewing and ordering commercial appraisal reports throughout the Southeast. Four years later, Mr. Payne was recruited by The McEnery Company, a regional firm, to open a new satellite office on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he gained significant experience in appraising a multitude of commercial property types before returning to his home state in 2016, where he worked as a senior appraiser at Heron Valuation Group, before opening his own firm. Mr. Payne is also actively involved in the buying and selling of commercial real estate.
SCOPE OF APPRAISAL EXPERIENCE
Appraisal experience consists of a wide variety of valuation and review assignments, including income‐producing commercial properties, senior housing, medical offices, hotels, multi‐family, LIHTC developments, industrial and special‐use properties, residential valuations and subdivisions, and vacant tracts of land.
